to Q for Eclipse users list
I'm seeing an error during the build when setting the source level to
1.6 using eclipse 3.4.2 with q4e 0.9 on the Mac.

The mac version of eclipse starts/runs on Java 1.5 because SWT is 32-
bit and Java 1.5 is the last version of Java that supports 32bit.
Java 6 on the mac is 64bit only.

Is there any way to have iam use Java6 to do the build on a mac?
If q4e must run in the same vm as the rest of eclipse does anyone know
if a version of eclipse for Java6/64bit will be released?

thanks in advance!

As  you point out, IAM runs the maven build in the same VM as Eclipse.

Eclipse Galileo (3.5) is going to support cocoa and 64 bit. we are sorting our dependencies to work on the new version (currently P2 will not allow you to intall).
