There was a posting awhile back to the effect that ActiveState has
made substantial parts of its code base Open Source. See http://www.openkomodo.com/

This is an exciting development: the OpenKomodo/KomodoEdit
autocompletion/calltips framework is impressive. Indeed, KomodoEdit
goes far beyond anything I ever contemplated re autocompletion &
calltips.

Leo's wiki, http://leo.zwiki.org now contains a discussion of
OpenKomodo sources as they relate to autocompletion. See
http://leo.zwiki.org/Autocompletion

This wiki explains the code so far as I understand it. Many additions
are coming. I have confidence that the essentials of the code will
become clear--if not, I'll ask ActiveState for help.

I encourage anyone interested in autocompletion/calltips to
participate in this learning process. Feel free to comment on the
wiki. It's a big, fascinating world to explore.

I have spent days being totally confused about how to get and build
the OpenKomodo sources and docs.

The Aha: use the stuff on svn and **ignore everything else**,
especially including docs. Details at

With a little help from the OpenKomodo people, I was able to do a
complete build of mozilla and OpenKomodo.

Full details here: http://leo.zwiki.org/Autocompletion
and especially here: http://leo.zwiki.org/BuildingOpenKomodo

Although I haven't tried it yet, I am told it should be possible to
set breakpoints in the autocompleter code using pdb.
