Eged and railways API

Hi,

Maybe it's not so relevant question for the group, but I will ask anyway:

Does somebody knows of any Egged, Dan or Israel railways API for their tickets prices?

Well this is an interesting question, my guess is No, or at least not a public API.

If you ask how bus.co.il do it, my guess is that panther2000 (the web company that owns bus.co.il) is using either scrapers or they have special contracts with the bus companies.

At any rate, why not simply go ask the bus companies?

Another option that I'd try is to check whatever the GTFS data the ministry of transportation recently released on http://data.gov.il contains price information.

If you're interested, I have a python code that queries the bus.gov.il free text service. If you ask for the price of the ride, it will tell you. It returns HTML, not JSON or anything like that, but I guess you can improve it to extract just the price out of it.
