Hi,
In order to find a job you need to "sell" yourself. For this you have a CV and a LinkedIn profile.
You might have the time to build open source projects or to contribute to open source projects, but many don't have the time for that.
Having a small website with an extended CV where you can describe yourself better than the limited CV can be very useful. Especially as the recruiters will search the Internet for information about the candidates. Standing out helps.
In addition, knowing Markdown and GitHub (better) is also an advantage.
So recently, whenever I teach Python at the Weizmann Institute we start by learning about GitHub, GitHub Pages and also Markdown and GitHub actions.
You can event see the pages they created in the most recent two semesters:
I am going to run a series of virtual presentations in Hebrew about these topics. The first one on Feb 7, Friday morning.
I'd like to both invite you to this and also ask you to help by inviting students from the various universities and colleges. Some of you might know of learning groups at those educational institutions or people who study there. Please share the invitation with them
regards
Gabor
