How to interpret a CWT scalogram and characterize the signal

Hey all,

I'm interested in characterizing a large dataset of signals using a CWT. I've chosen to use the morlet wavelet, considering its similarity to the original signals. I've easily plotted the resulting scalograms for the CWT (see attached image) – but now I'm entering somewhat unfamiliar territory. Given the attached scalogram as an example, what features can I extract from this data in order to characterize the original signal? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, and I'm looking forward to learning more about wavelet analysis from you all.
