Hello,

I have a principial understanding question:

When I use the reader 'fci_l1c_nc' with MTG input data I get i.e. "ir_105, ir_123, ir_87" with fci_scene.available_dataset_names() and i.e. "24h_microphysics" with fci_scene.available_dataset_names().

In the file visir.yaml there is in the configuration part for "24h_microphysics" below "prerequisites" 12.0, 10.8 and 8.7 listed. Is there a anywhere a "mapping" from 12.0 to ir_123 or 10.8 to ir_105?

Kind regards,
Bernhard

Hi,

this is defined in the readers. For example:

https://github.com/pytroll/satpy/blob/0beea130092f3270ae1af8a87644d47971acbbc4/satpy/etc/readers/fci_l1c_nc.yaml#L492

ir_105:
name: ir_105
sensor: fci
wavelength: [9.800, 10.500, 11.200]

This wavelength information is used for selecting the channel from the composite definition, or indeed from loading by wavelength (`sc.load([10.5])` will work but so will any value between 9.8 and 11.2).

regards,
Gerrit.
