Hi to all,

And thanks to Gabi. I am a linux python user and I had really given up trying to work on windows with python (or trying to convince my colleagues that only run Windows).

I am having a problem with the 2.7.10.0 release. I have installed it in W7 32bits, W7 64bits and W8.1 64bits. In all of them, I cannot use the osgeo library.

For example, when trying
from osgeo import gdal

I get a dll not found error. In fact, trying to run ogr2ogr (or any of the other executables in the gdal folder) from the Python2.7/Lib/site-packages/osgeo folder, it complains that it is missing cares-90-mt.dll. Inspecting any of them, they are also missing gpsvc.dll and ieshims.dll.

Any help would be appreciated.

Best regards,
Juan

Hi Juan,

cares-90-mt.dll is part of the pycares plugin. Please re-run the installer and make sure it is selected. I usually recommend to install all plugins by default.
