Starting ipython notebook with windows XP and a fresh python(x,y) 2.7.5 install, we get

"The procedure entry point InitializeCriticalSectionEx" could not be located in the dymamic link library KERNEL32.dll

Maybe there is a cross-compilation problem like python(x,y) being build under Win7 with Visual Studio 2012.

Everything works like a charm on win7. There seems to be dll issues on win XP installs.

I am also receiving the same errors on my XP installation.

Is there a work around?

All Python(x, y) binaries are built with VS2008 as required for Python 2.7 compatibility.

Win7 is the build host OS - WinXP will die officially on April 2014.
