The Atlas of India Project by the Map Lab @ CSECC
The Map Lab of the Centre for Sustainability, Environment, and Climate Change at FLAME University, Pune aims to create one of the most comprehensive open access archives of digital maps of India through the Atlas of India project. This project will create maps using open source and other software, by using satellite derived remotely sensed data, and compiling existing survey maps and historical maps of India that will culminate in several thematic atlases.
Positions Available:
Geospatial Lead and Coordinator of the Map LabNumber of Positions Available: 1
Key Responsibilities:Responsible for the overall project management
Coordinate and lead a team of geospatial analysts
Provide mentorship and training to team members and the community
Conduct research and contribute material to the open access portal, peer reviewed journal articles, and others
Assist in partnerships, training workshops, and outreach
Qualifications:Master’s degree in Geoinformatics, Remote Sensing, Environmental Science, Earth Sciences, Geography or other related field
More than 5 years of relevant work experience
Expertise in the use of GIS software such as QGIS, GRASS GIS, ESRI ArcGIS or similar
Expertise in landuse landcover classification using remotely sensed satellite data
Experience with Google Earth Engine desirable
Familiarity with India specific data sources
Experience with historical GIS in India desirable
Experience with collating geospatial data across platforms
Experience with webmapping
Research AssociateNumber of Positions Available: 3
