Galway Python meetup

Happy new year to you all,

over Christmas I have moved from Dublin to Galway. As such I would
like to start a regular Galway Python meetup.

I know that there has been one such meetup held already but I would
like to get it going on a regular bases like the Dublin meetup. The
second Wednesday of the month works really well in Dublin so I propose
having the Galway meetup on the first Wednesday of the month. Not sure
on a location yet as I am still trying to find my way around.

I am interested in hearing from anyone who would be interested in the
meetup or if anyone knows anyone in Galway interested in Python or if
anyone knows a good location for the meetup.

I am aiming on having the first (regular) Galway meetup on the 3rd of
February. This Wednesday is way too soon for me with the moving and
all that entails. In a yet to be decided location. So if anyone if
around Galway on the 3rd of February and fancies meeting up for a
pint. I will try and organize talks for a later date - lets start
small.

Hi Michael,

Well done for seizing the initiative to set up a regional user group - one of the complaints of the regional developer communities is that there just isn't enough (and sometimes 'anything') happening.

 

Keep me posted on your arrangements so we can include on the IrishDev.com events calendar and newsletter.

Thanks Michael for picking this up. Hope this becomes a regular meetup, I know the guys had a meetup in Galway recently, good to get more support for Galwegian Pythonistas. Maybe if we have more people from Dublin group moving to different parts of Ireland, we can get more regional meetups going (* wink *) ...given our idea of doing a Python Ireland tour has not taken off yet.... still WIP.

AFAIK the meetup was in the Westwood Hotel, Dangan -
http://www.westwoodhousehotel.com/contact.htm

There are a number of members (and non members) in DERI, across the
road, that would be interested in a meetup.

thanks for that - a location with potential attendees nearby. I say

we don't really have a notion of "members" everyone is welcome and
people either show up on the night or they don't.
