Hey,

Years ago I had released 3 Python training videos for sale through cmivfx. I've now just released them for free (and updated the sticky post with the new links):

Thanks to everyone that had purchased these over the years and supporting the effort I put into creating them. Hopefully any newcomers can benefit from the information, with it now being even more accessible.

Nice, thanks for sharing your lessons and knowledge, Justin!

I'm sure students/ newcomers alike to coding will appreciate it! :)

Oh snap! That's amazing, the new premier source to getting started with Qt, both inside and outside of Maya. The lessons apply to both PyQt4, PyQt5, PySide(1) and PySide2.

Highly recommended for folks both just getting into GUIs but also those with experience; lots of things in there.

Out of curiosity, what triggered a free release of these, especially considering they are still for sale on cmiVFX?

Thanks Marcus!

They are supposed to come down from the cmivfx site, but apparently they haven't done it. There are some changes going on over there and the option became available for me to do something different with the videos. I figured they have been for sale long enough and are 5+ years old. So I thought if I just made them free, they would get in front of more people and help to kick-start their coding adventure. Maybe some people might have been reluctant to shell out $30-50 per training video.

Also, funny story: Shortly after I had first released these videos, I was contacted by someone asking for support on the information in one of the videos. If I remember correctly,  he was from Iran. Before helping him, I thanked him for purchasing the videos. He said he didn't purchase them from cmivfx. He bought a DVD for a couple bucks from someone in a market in Iran. Apparently they had pirated my tutorials right away onto some VFX-specific torrent site and it ended up on a bootleg DVD in an Iranian market. So... At least now the bootleggers aren't winning :-)

Amazing news! Thank you so much Justin. These tutorials had helped me SO MUCH when I was starting out. It would be great to be able to watch them without having to go through CMI's horrible interface and player!
