I tried :
maya.cmds.deformer( type = 'wrap')
but this creates an empty deformer -- I couldn't find out how to add the source and target to this command .... any ideas ? I have the source and target objects selected before calling this command ....
source : sphere 1 , sphere 2, sphere 3
toget: sphere 4
