Maya cmds ui item parented to pyside

Hi list, sorry for this, I know this has been covered before somewhere but my google-fu is not as strong as it used to be. 

Some time ago I wrote this tool using the standard maya cmds ui elements.  Now I would like to rewrite this in pyside but the problem is 

1. I'm lazy 

2. I literary only have my 5 minute coffee breaks to rewrite this.  If I had an hour or two to spend on this that be awesome.  But that's time I don't have right now :( 

So, a quick, temporary fix would be to parent my ui to a pyqt widget, but is that possible? It should be right?

Yes you could get the reference to the widget using maya.OpenMayaUI.MQtUtil, and shiboken. But that does still leave you with a sort of black hole beneath it. Does it gain you much?

Well it satisfies my curiosity a bit, but in this case it doesn't really gain me anything.  Thanks though :)
