Application launcher and environment management
for 21st century games and digital post-production,
built with bleeding-rez

Windows LinuxMacOS

Hi everyone,

I’d like to share yet another one of my Open Source projects, this time tackling application launch and environment management for VFX and games shops.

It’s an application launcher, for when you need control over what software and which versions of software belong to a given project. It builds on the self-hosted package manager and environment management framework bleeding-rez, providing both a visual and textual interface for launching software in a reproducible way.

Also keep an eye on its integration with Avalon, the fully-featured and open source VFX and games pipeline, building on amongst other things Pyblish and Qt.py.

Have a look at the website for details, and feel free to share your experiences or ask questions here or on GitHub, and tell your friends! :)

Now you can! :)

Is bleeding-rez your own rez version ?

Yes, there were quite a few tweaks involved in getting Rez to actually run on Windows, especially with Python 3, which were some of the requirements of the studio I built Allzpark for, Studio Anima in Japan. bleeding-rez is the fruits of that labour. If you’re on Python 2 and Linux, you may get away with nerdvegas/rez, and if not please file a bug report.
