I'm trying to build a plugin for Maya 2018 using Visual Studio 2015 and Qt 5.6, but I'm getting the following build error:

C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Kits\10\Include\10.0.26100.0\ucrt\wchar.h(316):
error C3861: '_mm_loadu_si64': identifier not found
(compiling source file
D:\work\coding\maya plugins\AnimationHelper\source\Validation\Validation.cpp)

Has anyone run into this issue before or knows how to fix it?

I don't do windows compiling so I can't answer any further, but it looks like your Windows SDK version 10.0.26100.0 is too new for Maya 2018 + VS2015

Oh, I see. Do you happen to know where I could download a Windows SDK version that’s compatible with Maya 2018?

Or would installing Windows 7 help make it compile correctly?

The link isn’t working, so to not bother you much — could you please just tell me which Windows SDK version works with Maya 2018? I’ll try to look for it online myself.

Oops, sorry. Go download 10.0.15063.0

Have a look at the official docs for what the build environment is expected to look like too:

I don't recall having to install any particular Windows SDK; I expect the one needed is the one part of the default install of the compiler version you are expected to have (Visual Studio 2015 update 3). For Qt, you are expected to use the binaries and headers included in the SDK, not the official ones from Qt's website.

Best,
Marcus
