Just wanted to know, if Tornado can host PHP based websites?

No, Tornado's not that kind of web server. If you need to serve PHP alongside Tornado, use a reverse proxy.

This would be a stupid idea, but you *could* setup something like the
following: http://brianglass.wordpress.com/2009/11/29/asynchronous-shell-commands-with-tornado/
and just run php script.php through it. There's of course a ton of
problems with that though....
