Google Groups has all kinds of spam problems, hopefully they will
improve it..

The list is low-traffic enough that you could probably get away with moderating the messages before they go out (in "Group management" -> "access" -> "Hold messages from non-members for moderation" and "Messages from new members are moderated")

I do this for the reddit-dev list, which has a similar post-volume, and it works reasonably well
