SSE in Tornado

Is there a good example of Server Side Event implementation in Tornado, preferably with unit tests for it? (and co-existing with REST APIs)

There's a very old example in this PR, and the comments have links to some other implementations and commentary: https://github.com/tornadoweb/tornado/pull/381

(Note that some of these comments are outdated: Edge finally added support for SSE in 2020, removing one of the biggest limitations).
