Proxify external tools via SOCKS

Hi,

I am working on an open source project and need to proxify external tools via SOCKS proxy using Tornado. My questions are:

1. Is this possible using Tornado?

If yes,

2. How to do this thing?

If these external tools are accessible via HTTP, you can do this with curl_httpclient: 

http://stackoverflow.com/questions/22882667/socks-proxy-in-tornado-asynchttpclient  

There is no built-in support for SOCKS proxying of other protocols.
