Right tool to send commands to devices?

Hello,

Apologies if my newbieness makes the question obvious or very clear.

I am trying to activate a zwave siren when zoneminder (the security camera solution) detects alarms.

The siren is working correctly using openzwave and openzwave control panel on Debian 9 but I need to be able to create a script for zoneminder to execute.

Is python-openzwave the right tool for this project? e.g. can I create a script to send commands to a zwave device?

Sorry to bump this, but anyone willing to help?

It seems to be the right tool but, having briefly read the documentation I am not confident enough that I will be able to put the script together. Anyone willing to help?
