Hi All,

Good to see WyPy is still going! How many do you get at the meetings these days?

I'd be interested to hear take on this:

How do you stay up with what's new in Python and development generally? Are there particular blogs or twitter pages you follow?

Send me your links :-)

Paul

WyPy? This is PyNW. We've been getting between 8 and 25, I'd say, the last few months.

Anyway, for me the best way (other than the user group) to keep up to date on Python news and developments is the Python Weekly* email newsletter - pycoders.com

There's also /r/python - http://www.reddit.com/r/python

* not to be confused with piweekly.net - the Raspberry Pi equivalent. Wouldn't want anyone to think I was just plugging my own newsletter. Well, I kind of am now.

Ben

Hacker News.

Python Weekly.

Jessen Oller's, Ian Bicking's and Doug Hellmann's blogs.

@getpy on Twitter, and a bunch of other random pythonistas who'll eventually retweet everything @raymondh says (as they should).

Occasionally skimming the Unofficial Planet Python.

Very occasionally looking at Google Plus communities (although the signal-to-noise ratio in the main Python is way too low in there).

The occasional django-related podcast, although the action in that area is way too fast for me to keep up.

A yearly trip to PyCon UK ;)

Lurking on this list.

Occasionally downloading a new Python release and looking at the changelog :)

Sorry, I typed in the wrong tab. Thanks for the links though - gonna check those out.

BTW, does anyone here work for ThoughtWorks? Or know how they are as an employer?

Not been to a meeting for a while but I will try to pop in next month. All the best,

Paul

One of our members, Daley, works for them in Manchester. He'll be along shortly... he's just at a user group right now*.

*best guess

While we're on the topic of news and articles, here's a good one from Guido on why Python uses 0-indexing: https://plus.google.com/115212051037621986145/posts/YTUxbXYZyfi
