GTS WMO message parsing / interpretation

Hi Python meteorologist,

I was browsing the Web and searching around for some Python module / project which would help to parse WMO/MMS formatted message (WMO manual 386: GTS). I was pretty convinces there was something around -- at least as a starting point for further development -- as the interested community should be pretty large. However, so far I was not able to find anything, but stepped across this list, that might be helpful here.

As the amount of possible message types/bulletins is quite waste, I imagine this could/would be some framework allowing for the implementation of individual plugins, or something similar. But also some piece of software which helps interpreting the AHL / COMMS header would already be helpful.

Is someone aware of software of this type written in Python? Any hints from your side?
