Hi everybody,

Once again we are planning to have a meet-up for Python in Medical
Physics people at the AAPM annual meeting.

This year the AAPM meeting is being jointly held with the annual COMP
meeting in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, 31 July - 4 August
2011.

Darcy Mason has agreed to give a "mini keynote" talk about his pydicom
project, which has proven so useful for many medical physics Python
users.

As of now we will aim to meet during lunch on Monday, 1 August. A
final meeting time and location will be announced before the meeting.

If you are going to be in Vancouver, please plan to come meet your
fellow Python users. Invite your colleagues and friends who might be
interested. No experience necessary, as usual.

See you then!

We will have our meeting at 12:30 on Monday, August 1st. We'll meet at
the eating area in the back of Exhibit Hall B, near the posters.

Lunch will be available with your free meal ticket.

See you there!

Hi Blake,

Another meet-up sounds good. I will email you. Then we can put up a new post to the group with details for everyone attending AAPM 2013.

Roy,

I know you posted this for the meeting a few years ago but I have recently gotten into Python and am beginning to use if for some work in the clinic.  Are you planning a meeting this year in Indianapolis?  I think a meet-up would be great and I would like to help organize if there is interest.

I would try to attend a meeting -- I'm interested to hear how others are using python in medical physics.

I would also gladly attend.  I would be great to bounce around some project ideas I have in my head with the group and get their take on them.

I'll see about meeting either in a room or just in the vendor area sometime during the week. In the meantime I made a form for anyone to fill out that assesses what all of us are using Python for and where we'd like to go. The link is below. Hopefully if there's consensus on a topic we can talk about that at the meeting.

Cheers,
James

Is there a meet-up time/location established?

I couldn't figure out a way to reserve a room, so I'll take a cue from the prior meeting and meet in the Exhibit Hall. Go here for a map--Maps/Technical Exhibits. Let's go to the top far left corner (near booth 1053) on Tuesday at 12:15/30. Perhaps everybody can prepare an elevator pitch of what they use Python for or projects they work on, what tools they use, and what tools would be most useful for the med phys community. I'll also print out the survey results and we can discuss that.

Sound good?

Many thanks to Olivier for coming out on Tuesday. We talked about the use of Python in our clinics; he'd been using pylinac's trajectory log analyzer to verify deliveries after MOSAIQ upgrades to logs prior to the upgrades. We also talked about other tools that would be helpful, such as a Clarkson-integration dose verification system (which has been mentioned before), and the potential of using Feature Detection & computer vision training in our field.

Sorry to have missed the meeting in Anaheim.
I have used python for some time to process mapcheck files, produce monitor unit calculations (mlc-only non-Clarkson), and produce plan summaries. I read plan files exported from mosaiq and write/print excel files. I am working on a tool to read tomotherapy mapcheck files, crop the unreliable periphery, and write pinnacle fluence maps.
You mentioned Clarkson and if a group comes together to implement Clarkson, I would be interested in participating and including the result in my process.
Does it sound like a group is coming together to implement Clarkson?
