Good news everyone,

The next iteration of the Afpyro-be [0] will be held on the 10th of May in
Ixelles (near the Student neighborhood known as the "Cimetire d'Ixelles").
Given that Ludovic hasn't had much time recently to organize the event, we have
taken upon ourselves to put it together (with his blessing of course :-))

This edition has brought forth the opportunity, via UrLab [1], to have a
conference room over at the "K building" within the site of the university of
Brussels (ULB). As some of you will remember, that is where the Python
Lightning Talks were held during the Fosdem earlier this year. Therefore, we
think that it would be interesting to give everyone the opportunity to talk
about projects that they like and participate in. This will give the community
a better idea about what is happening in the Belgium's Python landscape (did
you know for example that the author of ipdb [2] lives in Belgium?). Of course
we do not mean to limit the possibilities, so if you want to talk about other
projects that you heart, please do! Ludovic will take upon himself the daunting
task of selecting the talks if we receive too many proposals.

The deadline for the "Call For Froposals" is set to Sunday, 28th. You can send
them directly to this address: cor...@worlddomination.be

As the evening unfolds, we will move to a restaurant nearby to continue the
discussions ("La bcasse" - within walking distance). If you are interested to
join for the restaurant or the lightning talks or both, we kindly ask you to
register so that we can make a proper reservation:

So, to recap : Lightning talks will be starting at 19:00 at the K building of
the Solbosch campus [3], room K.4.601, and the restaurant afterwards at "La
bcasse" from 21:00 [4].

We hope to see many of you,

Long live Python!

PS: the event will also be a good opportunity to reach out to the CS student
population of the university as they have finally adopted Python as the main
"learning language" about 2 years ago.

[0] The afpyro-be consists of regular meetings where the belgian Python community gets together to discuss the evolution of their favorite language and tools.

This edition has brought forth the opportunity, via UrLab (the

(ULB). As some of you will remember, that is nearly where the Python
Devroom was held during the Fosdem earlier this year. The talks will
be starting at 19:00 at the K building of the Solbosch campus [3],
room K.4.601, and will be fellow by a dinner at "La bcasse".

The ULB is easily accessible via the buses 71 and 95 and the trams 7
and 25 and 94 and by the Ring.

Schedule:

* 19:00 Opening

* 19:15 OpenPyXL : Creation of the Library and reverse-engineeering
of the OOOXML spec by Eric Gazoni (30min, in French)

* 19:55 Internal workings of the Declarative extension of SQLAlchemy
by Erik Janssens (30min, in English)

* 20:30 Open Discussion on the AFPyro-BE, the Belgian Python
community and anything else you wish to.

* 21:00 Dinner at La Becasse

If you'd like to come, can you please put yourself in the Framadate
for us to be able to reserve the correct number of places at the
restaurant: http://framadate.org/jze5k7xeqgo3dlh5

Hope to see you there,

The organisers,
