to Python Babel
http://babel.edgewall.org/wiki/Documentation/messages.html#extraction-method-mapping-and-configuration
could use an update to include an example of javascript extraction.

[javascript: **.js]
extract_messages = $._, jQuery._

And mention it in 2.2.1 Default Extraction Methods

Overall, the docs have been very useful as I've been learning Babel,
but it's a bit disconcerting that most haven't been updated for 3-4
years. "New" features like this would be very helpful to have
documented.

Added this.

Need to see exactly what to write for this one.

The project is slowly picking up some velocity again, so documentation
issues will also be addressed.

Great, thanks :)

Perhaps something like:

-Babel comes with only two builtin extractors: python (which extracts
messages from Python source files) and ignore (which extracts nothing).
+Babel comes with a few builtin extractors: python (which extracts
messages from Python source files), javascript, and ignore (which
extracts nothing).

Good enough as a temporary piece, added. Thanks!
