I want pytddmon.org's repository to be hosted on github.

Both github and Bitbucket has commit code comments. Also both look
really nice generally. Probably both are easy to navigate, but I'm not
sure of this.

But, Bitbucket lies behind github in some regards:

- github has syntax highlighting, Bitbucket doesn't
- github has a more "open source"/community feel to it. Very
subjective, I know, but that's the way I feel.

The only real Pro-bitbucket things I can come up with are these:
- neutral regarding hg or git
- private repos are free (but I think github has that now too nowadays, ey?)
- smaller than github (I dislike too bit things regardless of whether
it's companies, organisations or methods/classes haha)

But the pros for github weigh more than the pros for Bitbucket.

Thoughts or should I just "do it"?

/Olof

Oh. Sorry, misinformation. Bitbucket has syntax highlighting! My bad.

Argh Help me out! What hosting service do you want? Popular vote decision?

I dont think it matters, we could host it at both.... aslong as its git.
Pick Github for the issue tracker and the wiki, it has a bigger git community.

If i would argue for another site it would be because i dont like to have the code dangling in USA. They have to much restrictions on who can access it.

One thing that does go in Bitbuckets favor is that github uses public
key/ssh authentication instead of an ordinary username+password.

That might be common knowledge for *nix nerds, but it's quite a step
for the Windows nerd ;) It took me years to learn about public-private
key encryption, even though I consider myself quite nerdy..

So that brings a threshold / bump for just making a fork and doing a
patch of pytddmon - i.e. it will be harder for beginners to get
started.

Maybe we could do as Samuel suggests - use github for wiki and issues,
and host the git repo at Bitbucket for their simpler authentication
method?

As i remembered it, you can use passwords instead if you like use Https instead of ssh, on github.
