Question about developer/newcomer meetings + Slack

Hello statsmodels community,

I’m interested in getting more involved with statsmodels development and wanted to ask a couple of questions.

First, do developer meetings or newcomer/onboarding meetings currently take place? If so, I’d appreciate any pointers on how to join or follow along. If not, I’d be happy to learn about any plans or informal efforts in that direction.

Second, I wanted to suggest (or ask about the possibility of) setting up a Slack channel or similar real-time communication space for contributors and newcomers. I think it could be helpful for quick questions, onboarding, and community building, especially for people who are new to the project.
