Hi !

I have a problem using pyScripter on one of my Windows XP.
the startup is slow (5 - 6 sec) and when I close pyscripter, it always
stay in the process list in the windows task manager.
If I start it again then I have 2 instances of the app in the process
list, etc

What is the problem ?

I'm using it on Windows XP SP2 on a Intel Core 2 duo machine.

thank you for this excellent IDE !!

Does the issue gets resolved if you restart the machine?

Just to make sure
- You start PyScripter
- Immediately exit
- PyScripter still shows in the processes list

Does the error occur if you manually close all files before exiting?
Does PyScripter save PyScripter.ini? Find Pyscripter.ini and see if
its time is updated.

The order in which PyScripter looks for the ini file is the
following:

a) Exe directory
b) %APPDATA%
c) %APPDATA%\PyScripter

If it is not found anywhere it will be created in the third location.
(%APPDATA% is the environment variable "APPDATA%)

Do you have write access to the directory where PyScripter.ini is
located

Try to remove/rename *all* instances of PyScripter.ini and see if this
helps. Or else use PyScripter.ini from a computer where PyScripter
works and place it in the same directory as the executable (it will
then be used in priority to those found in other locations).

Yes it does

Yes PyScripter create the PyScripter.ini if it doesn't exists

I've tried to remove all PyScripter.ini
I found it in c:\Windows, in %APPDATA%, in %APPDATA%\PyScripter
I remove all but it's all the same, pyscripter never dead !
I have write access everywhere and PyScripter.ini is recreate in
%APPDATA%\Pyscripter when I delete it

any other idea?

I am running out of ideas here, since very little happens in
PyScripter after saving the ini file. Could you repeat the steps
- Check PyScripter does not show in the processes list
- Start PyScripter
- Close all open files
- Make sure File Explorer points to a normal directory (e.g. C:
\some dir) and not to the desktop.
- Close all dock windows leaving only the editor background showing
in the main window
- Immediately exit
- Check if PyScripter still shows in the processes list

Does anyone else have the same issue? Any ideas?
