To set the editor background color using the editor options you need to change the Space element in Syntax Colors.

i try to add a new template in tools->file templates

Name: TMPL
Default Extension: tmpl
Highlighter: HTML

when open a new tmpl file, the highlighter of HTML had no effect on
it.

It works here.  Please try the preview version 2.4.4.

get version 2.4.4, open a file with the suffix of tmp l(new file
template) , still no effect.

another question: when saving my '.tmpl' file after add the file
template with HTML highlighter, it forced the suffix of 'html' , not
my new suffix of 'tmpl'

it cann't restore the old color of the brace after the cursor matched

You need to modify the File Filter for html files to include the tmpl  extension.  (Tools, Options, IDE Options).

This is the Unbalanced brace element of the Python Syntax Highlighter.  This was added at a later version of PyScipter.
