Recently, and intermittently, I've noticed a green, yellow, or red vertical bar between the line number and code on my screen.  Sometimes it's there, other times it doesn't seem to show up.  I'm wondering what this bar is?  It just seemed to appear in the past week or so.

Oh.  Nevermind.  I don't know if I turned it on or it's on by default with the new version, but I was poking around and see it's the "track changes bar" under IDE Options>Editor.

The bar doesn't appear when I load older scripts (even just a week or two old).  When I look at the options, "visible" is checked, but there's no bar.  It only seems to appear when I start brand new scripts.  Is this a new feature in the new latest version and only works with script created with the new version?

And one question: what qualifies as "original" such that the bar is blue?

When I start a brand new file and start putting in lines, the bar is yellow (modified).  If I save it, it turns green (saved color).  If I go back and change a line after things have been saved, it turns orange (modified).  So what would turn the bar blue?  I would think starting a brand new file the bar would start out blue.

It’s a new feature, but I think it has some problems; they’ve been reported and I think are fixed in the upcoming minor release.

Oh, ok.  Thank you.

Yeah, it isn't working quite right.

Right now it seems that:
The vertical bar only appears on new files, not loaded old ones.

The vertical bar starts as yellow (modified) when you'd think it'd start blue (original).

After you save the file the bar turns green (saved---this makes sense).

If you tweak a line after this, it turns orange (saved modified) even though it hasn't yet been saved (which should mean yellow--modified but not yet saved).

The feature (Track changes bar) is explained in this blog post.
It should be working as designed  (if not then please submit a bug report).  The only issue is that you cannot disable it.  (you can but then it comes back).  This is fixed in the soon-to-be-released version 4.2.2.
