Just back from taking Zoe to France in the hope of mating her with
Boogie de Loarwenn. Well, after many hours sitting in Boogie's
master's (thankfully fab) house and garden, nothing happened. That's
not quite true... Zoe did her best to be encouraging and show the
young man what to do, but by the time he really seemed to be getting
the hang of it, she seemed to be getting a bit fed up - and who could
blame her? On the last day we put them together for an hour which, in
retrospect, wasn't a good idea because I think the dog ejaculated on
her, rather than in, and then took them to vet to try some AI.
Because of the earlier ejaculation he could only get a couple of ml
semen out of Boogie, and he said it wasn't the best time for Zoe
either - I assume that, because it was day 14, her ovulation had
passed.

So, all very disappointing - and not to mention hideously expensive -
but next time we'll just go straight for the veterinary intervention
route!

Hi Virginia,
Sorry to hear that your trip with Zoe was unsuccessful. Was it the first time for the male?
Nobody is having much luck with matings/puppies this year.
We are now in Argeles-Gazost in readiness for the show at the weekend.
