I've annotated the VPython demo program that I built up little by little at the meeting last night:

Click "Run this program" to run the demo.

To learn more about VPython:

1) At glowscript.org, click "Example programs" to run a variety of applications, and "Help" for extensive documentation. Log in with a Google account and write your own programs, which are saved in the cloud. You can invite a friend to run a program of yours simply by sending a URL; the friend doesn't have to install anything.

2) At vpython.org are the details on how to use the vpython module with installed Python.

Hi Bruce,

Just curious… is Pyptug still meeting?  I reached out to Francois, but didn’t hear back at this point.

I am between jobs, so I am taking time to “tool up” on Python, Linux and some other stuff.  Mostly interested in embedded HW applications.

Hope all’s been well with you!

Hi Jeff,

Bruce Sherwood, the primary developer of VPython and GlowScript.org is now at the University of North Texas. I collaborate with him, however, and I am at High Point University.

I have experience with web-based HW applications. I co-developed WebAssign. More recently, I’ve resisted some old Perl scripts to embed HW assignments for my one classes. I am curious about what you are working on. Maybe we can share some ideas.

I haven’t been to a PYPTUG meeting in a long time, simply because of my own very busy schedule at High Point University. I hope to make it to a meeting again sometime.

Hi Pyptug/Aaron,

My last email went out to the group rather than only Bruce.  Apologies.  But I’m glad I was able to “ping” the group-- perhaps something will come of my oversight.  Hey… at least I’m reconnected with Aaron!

For those of you who might not remember or even know me, I’m a HW guy (EE) who’s kept Computer Science percolating in the background, mostly through my embedded activities.  Met Francois through the IEEE nearly a decade ago, and I occasionally made an appearance at the Pyptug meetings (that spark ALMOST ignited into something regular for me).  Currently taking some time to dive into the gadget/instrumentation/Maker/HAM-Radio spaces, while also getting my lab back into some kind of order.  Feel free to reach out/connect on LinkedIn (https://www.linkedin.com/in/jeffrey-mueller-90bb2913/), or just sent me an email directly.  Would love to hear from you!

Aaron, I’ll pick up our conversation through direct contact at this point.  TTYS.

Best to everyone!

Jeff
