Hi there!

I'm looking for additional information on the input format for PyPSA.

Reading the documentation I can see that models can be created using CSVs in a "standard" format.

Is this standard documented anywhere except through the examples? Is this format shared by any other energy system modelling tools? or similar to formats used else where e.g. the Common Information Model?

Thanks!
Nick

Hi Nick,

networks can be imported from CSV, HDF5, netCDF files which store
tabulated data according to the components containers
(https://pypsa.readthedocs.io/en/latest/components.html).

This link is also a good place to look for additional information how
the data is stored aside from the examples.

The format is generally not shared across other energy system modelling
tools. But we have two importers from PYPOWER and pandapower in PyPSA
through which you might have access to other data formats. It's also not
based on CIM.

Best wishes,

Fabian
