Dear PyPSA users,
Several of our users have told us that non-experts would find a
graphical user interface (GUI) for PyPSA very useful, even if it only
has very basic features.
In particular they would like an interface to:
- Load existing PyPSA network files (i.e. .nc files)
- Inspect the input data as data tables
- Alter the input data
- Rerun the optimisation or load flow
- Visualise the results
At the moment we are *not* considering a GUI to build PyPSA networks
from scratch or for data management or for scenario handling.
Ideally the GUI would run in the browser so it can be run either locally
or in the cloud, or as a standalone app (e.g. an Electron app).
We would be very interested in your feedback if:
- You have already developed an open source GUI for PyPSA
- Have suggestions for any similar open source tools or libraries from
which we can borrow code or ideas (we're aware of GUIs for GridCal and
pandapower)
- You know of other use cases for a GUI
The core PyPSA team will probably not be involved in the development,
but we want to help put together a proposal description and raise funding.
Thanks!
Since I'm about to go away on holiday, I may not be able to reply
quickly to questions, but somebody else will :-).
Best wishes,
Tom
