Dear Paul,
Welcome to atlite and the community!
atlite follows a convert and aggregate process, rather than an aggregate
and convert process:
First the weather data is converted into RES time-series. The
time-series are then aggregated by different methods to provide capacity
factors or feed-in time-series. For you as a new user this order is
shouldn't be relevant.
As for generating plant-specific data:
The easiest way to do what you want is to create an individual capacity
layout for each turbine type and location, see this example:
https://atlite.readthedocs.io/en/latest/examples/historic-comparison-germany.html#Generate-capacity-layout
Is this what you wanted?
If you want to go all-in there is a more sophisticated approach. I
recommend you don't concern yourself with it, I just mention it for
completness. You can do the same with the above mentioned example. The
alternative method uses the `matrix` parameter instead of the `layout`.
See e.g. here:
https://github.com/PyPSA/pypsa-eur/blob/master/scripts/build_renewable_profiles.py
General caveat: If you need very detailed simulations, e.g. for project
planning, then atlite might not be the right tool for the job. The
models and input data in atlite which we support by default are not
tailored to accomodate e.g. a singular wind turbine or wind farm.
HTH.
Best,
Johannes
