I just checked out Pyomo's master branch, and I'm seeing several test failures:

1. Failures because GAMS is not available.  It looks like we're missing checks on the tests?

2. Failures for DataPortal.  It's not obvious what might be causing these.

To be clear, these are failures on your development machine?

I am seeing two test failures in pyomo.contrib.gdp_bounds.tests.test_gdp_bounds.TestGDPBounds (test_compute_bounds_obbt and test_compute_bounds_obbt_prune_disjunct) that fail if GAMS is not available.

The DataPortal test failures have been there forever.  I forget which python package I had to uninstall to make them “go away” (i.e., be skipped), but it was either a database- or Excel interface-related package.

John:

What does it mean that the DataPortal tests have been there forever?  Tests appear to have passed on latest tests of the master branch.

Do we have an issue with the testing infrastructure?

Yes.  On my machine.

Do you know if an issue has been submitted to resolve the GAMS issue?

I installed pyomo.extras, and I'm still seeing the test failures in dataportals.  I took a look at one of them, and it looks like there may have been a change in the default format for YAML output.

See this issue summarizing the PyYaml issue: https://github.com/Pyomo/pyomo/issues/908

I don’t think there is an open issue for the GAMS issue.

There is not a formal issue for the GAMS dependency (I hadn’t seen the failure until Bill brought it up), although I have talked to the contrib package developer and resolving it is on his radar.

I see evidence that forever is equivalent to 19 days (per John's ticket about PyYaml).  LOL

I was not clear about which tests were failing.  I was thinking about other longstanding dataportal test failures that we ended up forcibly skipping; notably the load tests (see aee0c01 in 1/2018) and the entire pyodbc interface (see 817a2ef in 10/2018).
