Performance / Pyomo + Cython

Hi,

by looking at https://github.com/Pyomo/pyomo/issues/1008 I got the impression that there is a version/implementation of pyomo that internally leverages cython to speed up things.

Is this the case? Is it documented somewhere?

Pyomo is amazing in terms of design, object oriented features etc, so being able to speed it up would really bring it to the next level.

By the way, has there been any effort to use something such as numba?

They have recently added support for dictionaries, which I assume is key to pyomo.
