Hi Marat,

I am glad to hear that you are using PyMKS.

We use the same method outlined in the following paper.

http://link.springer.com/article/10.1186/2193-9772-2-3

Basically we smooth a random field with a Gaussian filter and then threshold the smoothed contour.

Currently PyMKS doesn't have the functionality to generate grain IDs. I would recommend using the label function from skimage

http://scikit-image.org/docs/dev/api/skimage.measure.html?highlight=label#label

Thanks,

David

Hi David:

I just started using PyMKS and it works very nicely. Currently I am interested in MicrostructureGenerator function and have some questions.

Looking at the code, I think it somehow uses Gaussian Fourier filter. Could you please suggest a reference explaining how it works for microstructure generation?

Also, is there a way to modify the function so that it will add grain IDs to the generated microstructures (in addition to phase IDs)?

Thanks,
Marat

P.S. I tried to send this to pymks-general group but it did not work.
