Is anyone using jEdit with pyMel?

Hi folks,
I am finally learning python and trying to migrate to pymel - no need
to say why :) With MEL, and on Linux also for C++, jEdit is my editor
of choice for it is multiplatform and there is everything like syntax
highlighting and stuff available for MEL.
I would really like to stay with that editor, Eclipse just seems kind
of oversized to me for that task. Does anyone know if in jEdit the
pyMel stuff can be used like in Eclipse (via those existing "stub"
files) or anyhow else?
