Hi everyone,
We're going to try to get a release candidate for version 2.1 out by
the new year, and I've been blessed as release manager. This will be
primarily a maintenance release, rather than a major overhaul like
2.0, so it should be a simpler process.
For the next month, please be extra-vigilant about reporting errors
you encounter in up-to-date (meaning recently refreshed using git or
subversion) versions of PyMC. If there's some annoying little quirk
that you routinely work around, now is the time to get it stamped out!
As ever, please report problems on the issues page.
If anyone out there has the time and inclination to make an extra
effort, checking some docstrings for correctness would be an enormous
help. In particular, the Stochastic subclasses' docstrings (Normal,
Binomial, etc). have proven difficult to maintain, because there are
so many of them and they're incredibly boring to read. :)
No changes other than bugfixes are going to make it into 2.1 at this
point, unless they're already half-done. We're looking for stability
and reliability here.
After the release is finalized in early 2010, we'll make what
installers we can, and ask for volunteers to make the ones we can't.
We'll post the installers in the downloads section as they become
available.
Thanks for your support!
