Phillip,

Thanks for the response.  Just to let you know, I am VERY thankful and VERY appreciative of the work you have put into this.  I am a PHP developer mostly, but have been more and more interested in moving to Python.  I am also very interested in using Django, but first needed to figure out how to host multiple Django apps on the same IIS server.  I am currently testing multiple virtual directories with each VD having its own PyISAPIe dll.  That doesn't seem as efficient as having just one dll and it certainly isn't very user friendly for those who are on shared windows hosting.  But I think it will have to do for now.

I am using IIS 5.1 (Windows XP) and Python 2.5.  When I had this problem, I had PyISAPIe.dll in the c:\Python25 folder.  I am currently testing this out as noted above for VDs and have the PyISAPIe.dll file in different directories.  I have not had the problem while testing this new configuration.

Keep up the good work.

Hi Randy,

Thanks for the heads-up on this problem; I hadn't been watching the
mailing lists too closely to spot the discussion.

I'm going to see if I can reproduce the problem on my box - are you
using IIS 6 & Python 2.5?

Regarding your email from a few days ago, right now this is the best way
to reach me about the project. I have a Trac page set up with a
repository mirror, and at this point I just need to move the little bit
of documentation I have over - I plan on making the wiki public so anyone can contrbute. A mailing list would be a good idea, and I
think I'm going to set up something on google groups for that.

Honestly, until I heard from you, I was sure that nobody had taken much
interest in my project lately. It's great to see that isn't the case :)

Cheers,

Phillip

Phillip,

I would really like to work with you on this project to get Django working on IIS in a way that would support multiple installations.  However, I have noticed one bug that has cropped up.  It would seem that the site-packages directory is not in the default search path when running PyISAPIe.  That means that django can not be found.  I had to move the django module up a level to the Lib directory in order to get it working correctly with PyISAPi.

There are others who have had this problem:

Please let me know how I can assist.

Ok, I have some more information for you about the problem I am having
with search paths.

PyISAPIe.dll in c:\Python25
Http directory in c:\Python25\Lib\site-packages

Here is my output:

-------------------------------------------------------------

Internal Server Error
An error occurred processing this request.

Could not initialize interpreter

ImportError: No module named Http.Isapi

Additional Information

Module Search Path:

C:\Python25
C:\WINDOWS\system32\python25.zip
C:\Python25\Lib
C:\Python25\DLLs
C:\Python25\Lib\lib-tk
C:\WINDOWS\system32
--
-------------------------------------------------------------

I then moved the PyISAPIe.dll file out of C:\Python25 and into c:
\PyISAPIe. After reconfiguring the VD in IIS, this problem went away.

Hi Randy,

I just got to looking at it today, and I am able to reproduce the
problem on IIS6 exactly as you are experiencing it. It's a little
weird, considering that even putting it in the Python DLLs folder has
worked for me. I'll let you know when I figure out exactly what's
going on.
