Assessing indivuals in parallel

Dear All,
My GA is currently very slow, it can take nearly 2 weeks to solve my problem. The reason for this poor performance is I am assessing individuals using a model that is implemented in simulink, and it takes about 8-9 seconds for the model to run. Hence, I need to improve the performance. I do not know where to begin, I would appreciate some help. Can I assess indvidiuals on different machines and then gather the results for the next next population, are you aware of any existing examples solving a similar problem?
