Pixel Array Data

I'm trying to compare some portal dosimetry images between different truebeams, and have found that some of the image sets when read into pydicom end up at ~1/2 of the values of what is expected.  I'm feeling like this is related to the fact that the ds.pixel_array is uint16 as opposed to uint64?

Wondering if anyone has run into this or has a workaround.

I guess i'm still using 2.0, but don't notice any updates relevant to this issue.
