Sobre la PyCon

No escribo en la lista de Python España, pero os leo desde hace
tiempo. Me llamo José María, y escribo los artículos sobre Python en
la revista Linux Magazine.
Espero poder ayudaros en lo que necesiteis en el escasísimo tiempo del
que dispongo (ya ayudo a organizar Iniciador en Málaga y tengo una
empresa).
En España hay un uso de Python encubierto brutal. Si os meteis en la
página de Pyro leereis
«Pyro is at the center of a credit derivatives distributed sytem (in
use at one of the largest banks in Spain) consisting of a dozen
financial components running on a Sun Enterprise 10000 server, and
about twenty desktop workstations. Pyro connects the financial
components on the servers with each other and also with the desktop
applications on the workstations. Pyro is also used to connect
calculation worksheets in Excel to the servers, using a COM proxy
written in Python that makes it possible to speak PYRO from Excel
macro's. This is a complex project, involving 150000 lines of code in C
++, Python and VB, and Pyro is the glue that holds it all together.
They have chosen Pyro because of it's performance (it beats comparable
solutions in terms of speed and ease-of-use), its open-source
character (which helps in debugging), and the rapid development that
Pyro allows them to do (new server methods are available to everyone
straight away, no need for proxies, compilation, ...) Pyro's Event
Server is used to publisch financial data and it's been running stable
for months without problems.

Varios bancos de gran tamaño en España exigen Python a sus nuevos
programadores. Lo mismo pasa con Tuenti, uno de los contratadores de
programadores Python en España.
Mi experiencia organizando eventos es que, hasta que se haga el
tercero, suelen ser un desastre organizativo. Es mejor asumirlo en
lugar de negar tal posibilidad y trabajar a destajo sin sentido xD (en
este aspecto la organización de eventos se parece a la filosofía Ágil,
iterar corrigiendo).
Lo de la asociación es FUNDAMENTAL, puesto que en innumerables sitios
si eres empresa te piden dinero y si eres asociación lo tendrás gratis
todo o muy rebajado. Eso sin contar con el tema de los patrocinios.
