Dear Malhar,
This is Pradyun. Firstly, I apologise for the delay in replying.
Exams are coming so I don't get much time to work with the computer.
(In writing this mail I finished my computer time for the day!)

All help to Py2C is welcome. Note that we have shifted to Github at
http://github.com/pradyun/Py2C. So, you can see and get the current
sources on Github. I'll add you as a commiter when
- I commit my current progress which will be once the code is
passing the tests I wrote some time back. Sadly I won't get to work on
Py2C till the first week of April for the fore mentioned reason.
- We are sure you are not the kind of person who will commit an
empty source directory! :)
But till then you can still contribute by forking and working on your
fork. But that fork won't be merged until first week of April.

PS: You will be working with kids. Literally! I'm 15, Ramchandra
should be 12 now. Consider telling us a bit more about yourself
(including your Github user name) :)

Hi all,
I've been curious about this project for sometime now.
Am taking a shot at poking around the internals now.
There's no running compiler, but it seems interesting alright.
I'll fork it by the time I've something to contribute or send a
pull request.

Dear You (where "you" refers to the person reading this),

Anyone and Everyone (at the time of this writing) is encouraged to contribute to this project either with inputs, ideas, bug-reports, pull requests and every other way you can think of!

Anyway, I had posted a small wiki page about my current plans for the translation process.
You might want to see that (if you already haven't). It would be nice to get inputs on how it is.
Any other ideas that you think might work better are appreciated (at the time of this writing).
That's all I wanted to say.

PS: I've not gotten Ramchandra's reply for my mails for 4 weeks now! He probably has exams
       like me! If anyone has seen him in recent times, I would like to know what he's upto!

Hello, all, my name is Daniel. I would like to contribute, but can't at the moment, maybe in a month or 2.

I know that I will soon be warned that I am working with children, I myself am one, and don't really mind.

I just wanted to make a suggestion regarding your parsing method, Python has a standard library module for constructing ASTs, called ast.

Hello All,
The current implementation (in my local repo, "it") is in fact using Python's ast module. It translates the sources to Python's AST and then translates this AST into our custom AST that I like to call "Dual AST". If someone asks why the extra step, well the Python provided AST is not very informative. It doesn't have type declarations as Python doesn't have use it itself! (Those guys might not have expected a bunch of kids to want type inference in the ast). What it does is it revisits the nodes of the AST collecting information and makes a new dual AST that is then converted into C++. The implementation doesn't reinvent the wheel. It just make a better one!

Sorry for late reply. I am busy with job so couldn't get back to you.

I don't have problem working with you guys. In fact I am really glad to hear that youngsters like you are working on open source python projects.

Something about myself :

I am 27 years old based from Ahmadabad. I passionate about Core Python and Django. I work as a Python Developer at Ahmadabad based software company. I have 6+ months of experience in python. In my leisure I like to work on Python as well as other techs and frameworks. Soon I will start learning Google Go. I started my journey to programming since the age of 16 and because of insane passion of computer I got lot of academic failures.

One thing I want to be honest about is I am an application guy and don't have deep knowledge of of algorithms and other computer science stuff. So tell me how can I contribute to this project.

py2c, at least the last time I checked, isn't using any fancy concepts apart from ASTs. Basically it parses Python code into a abstract syntax tree (it's a tree of the components of code) and converts that tree into a tree representing C code and then generates Code.
