Good afternoon Ainslie.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you.  It actually took some time to find my original order info and update it.

I remember when doing this that I had to look long and hard to find the right pieces.  But that was more making sure that they would work together for what I needed.

Here are the pieces I used:

  1. Vortex Optics Picatinny Rail Tripod Mount    https://www.amazon.com/Vortex-Optics-PTM-Tripod-Adapter/dp/B000FSGHZ4   $24.96
  2. Oben QR-20 Quick Release Plate  https://www.amazon.com/Oben-QR-20-Quick-Release-Plate/dp/B005GMWCBM  $23.99
  3. Oben 3/8""-16 to 1/4""-20 Reducer Bushing  https://www.amazon.com/Oben-16-20-Reducer-Bushing/dp/B01KMKTAQW?th=1 2-pack $4.74, you may not need these depending upon the tripod/side arm you are using
  4. Vanguard Alta BH-100 Ball Head  https://www.amazon.com/Vanguard-Alta-BH-100-Ball-Head/dp/B071RGZ2Y6  $65.17  I found this ball head to be quite readily adjustable and very, very sturdy.  It held our 5i rigidly and securely in both horizontal and vertical orientations.  If you want more security there are three mover in the line but each heavier/sturdier than the previous one.
  5. Tripod side arm.  I had one already but this one should work nicely:  Manfrotto 131D Side Arm for Tripods with 2 heads on 90- Degree   https://www.amazon.com/Manfrotto-131D-Tripods-heads-Degree/dp/B001FRO1VQ   As this requires a 3/8 inch on the tripod it mounts to you should size your tripod accordingly.

As I thought the list might be interested in this information too I have cc’d it.  I hope you don’t mind.

Yes, I think so.  It works well.  I am in the midst of a hiring situation, would a bit later this week for you on getting this information?

Hi Mark,

I saw your message on the pXRF for cultural heritage users board on a non-bruker sourced tripod setup for your XRF. We have a Tracer 5i and would love to put together a similar tripod set up. Would it be possible at all to send your order info and/or pics?

Thank you!

Ainslie
