Hi all,

We collected some spectra yesterday using a Tracer 5i and Artax 8.0.0.476.They are .PDZ files. I can't open them in Artax 7.4.0.0, which we use for analysis. When I try to open them, I get the following error message: "Invalid floating point operation".
I can open them in Artax 8.0.0.476.

I am attaching one of those spectra here.

Anyone knows why I am having this issue?

Thank you,

Charlotte

Hi all,

Just realized I was probably saving in the wrong PDZ version (25 vs. 24) when collecting in Artax 8.0.0.476. If anyone ever has that issue in the future, make sure you are shooting in PDZ 24.

The issue is that the spectra were collected in PDZ 25 instead of PDZ 24.  If you are collecting in Artax, you need to go to the method editor and then click on the output tab, choose PDZ version 24 and then collect your data. You will need to do this each time you open artax.

The data can be converted, but it is easier to do it this way.

Also, you can save the data as a project and you should be able to open it after that.

I did it again! I saved data as PDZ 25 rather than PDZ 24. Because I don't have access to the lab and the instrument at this time (they are spectra I collected a while ago), I will have to try to convert them.

Aaron, you had mentioned that saving the data as a project would allow me to open it. I created a new project in ARTAX, added the spectra, and saved it, but that didn't seem to help.  I still can't open them. Is there anything specific I need to do?

Thank you!

HI Charlotte,

I hope you are well.  It is a common mistake that I do all the time.  you can use Bruker Caltoolec for this.  I can send you the program and it can change the versions from 25 to 24.  If you do build a project with 25 files, you should be able to open that project in artax 7 and read it. I am surprised if there is an issue with that.

let me know if you want me to send you the program.  It might already be installed on the computer or on the usb sticks that Bruker supplied.
