Dear all
I am planning on undertaking some pXRF work on archaeological artefacts next week and the conservator has requested submission of a risk assessment. Is anyone able to share one they use for such work?

Best wishes and thanks, in advance, for any assistance.

Hello Louisa. We have two instruments, one in California and one in Nevada. The only real risk is radiation exposure so we have a safety manual stating a minimum safe distance is required accompanied by the use of dosimeters. The minimum safe distance is stated in the manufactures manual.

Risk to the object or staff?

thanks Mark and Lucas

I believe the risk assessment should cover both artefact and staff and it would need to be quite comprehensive.

Best
