configuration password not working. How to reset

My configuration password is not working.  How can I reset it?

Try clearing out or removing the password hash from PwmConfiguration.xml

    <property key="configPasswordHash" modifyTime="2014-02-10T09:12:29Z">$XXXXX$XX$XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX</property>

same problem with my system - after fresh installation after few hours the system doesn't accept configuration password that worked before.

running command.bat ConfigSetPassword asks for a new password twice and says "success" but this new password still is not accepted.

using Meno's solution also didn't help - the systems says config file does not have a configuration password .

please help.
