Hi all,

I might be missing something, but I have PWM authenticating with a standard 2012 a/d instance, but continue to not be able to log in and getting the following:

Fri Oct 11 12:27:54 EDT 2013, ERROR, password.pwm.servlet.TopServlet, {CN=Jeff Pajor,OU=Users,OU=xyz,DC=xyz,DC=us} pwm error during page generation: 5051 ERROR_DB_UNAVAILABLE (database connection is not open) [172.30.1.16]
Fri Oct 11 12:27:54 EDT 2013, INFO , password.pwm.util.operations.UserAuthenticator, successful plaintext authentication for CN=Jeff Pajor,OU=Users,OU=xyz,DC=xyz,DC=us (134ms) [172.30.1.16]
Fri Oct 11 12:27:54 EDT 2013, TRACE, null, bind successful as CN=Jeff Pajor,OU=Users,OU=xyz,DC=xyz,DC=us (55ms)

Configuration manager looks good:

Configuration CONFIG Application is currently in configuration mode. Anyone accessing this site can modify the configuration without authenticating. When ready, lock the configuration to secure this installation.
Configuration CONFIG Forgotten Password -> Response Read Location includes ldap storage, but Forgotten Password -> Response Storage Attribute is not configured
Configuration CONFIG LDAP Directory -> LDAP Promiscuous SSL setting should be set to false for proper security
Configuration CONFIG LDAP Directory -> LDAP Test User setting should be set to verify proper operation
Configuration CONFIG Security -> Require HTTPS setting should be set to true for proper security
Configuration CONFIG Security -> Show Detailed Error Messages setting should be set to false for proper security
Configuration CONFIG The configuration uses database storage, but database connection settings are not set
Java Platform GOOD Java platform is operating normally
LDAP GOOD All configured LDAP servers are reachable
LocalDB GOOD LocalDB and related services are operating correctly

Am I supposed to create a local user first, maybe I just missed a step on the instructions, but I reviewed a couple of times and can't find anything.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks,
Jeff

Anyone?  Seems like I'm missing something basic, but this error causes it to not work at all.....

Did you ever get this figured out?

After a lot of trial and error and digging around this group I think I got it straightened out.

For my setup is similar to yours, Jeff.:
- AD
- Linux box running a new install of PWM 1.7 + localdb

The configuration guide is broken. Stepping through a manual configuring PWM, the included module(s) wrongly assumes the type of database being used.

In the configuration editor, click Modules -> Forgotten Password. Change the values for both Response Read Location and Response Write Location to LocalDB. I think it defaults to Database.

I've never been so happy to see a web page accept my credentials. :)

Thanks for the tip Jonathan.... still didn't work....

Now I get:

PWM 5015

Unexpected error. If this error occurs repeatedly please contact your helpdesk. { 5015 ERROR_UNKNOWN (ChaiProvider instance has been closed) }

Looks like it's back to the drawing board......

Thanks again,
Jeff
